Clinic Owner

I love learning and developing, and I’m passionate about providing the most effective care - the type of care that people deserve to receive, the kind of care that I would want for my family. It’s exciting to see the clinic grow from strength to strength.

Nina set the clinic up in 2009 and has seen it rapidly grow, gaining a reputation in the community for providing a caring, effective service.

Nina first became interested in natural health options after seeking treatment from a Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor in her early 20’s. That interest grew and then found a focus in Chiropractic after receiving Chiropractic Care whilst in New Zealand. After two years of travelling abroad she retuned home to complete the 5 year degree at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic. After working in clinics in Hucknall and Chesterfield she decided to set up ‘Clay Cross Chiropractic’ (renamed in 2014 to The Body Health Centre).

Because of this background she knows exactly what it’s like to be in pain, how that can affect your life, and what it’s like to be a patient.

In her spare time she enjoys yoga, country walks with her partner Ian and Border Collie Tau, arts and crafts, country fairs, camping, traditional use of plants, as well as relaxing in front of an open fire with a good book!

Rebecca graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC) in 2011 after completing a five year MSc Chiropractic degree.  She is registered with the General Chiropractic Council and is a member of the British Chiropractic Association. Whilst at university Rebecca volunteered three times a week at Bournemouth Rugby Union Football Club.  Between 2010 and 2012 she provided treatment at the Dorset and Wiltshire Cup final and at the Lycett and Bournemouth 7’s. Through this involvement, Rebecca developed an interest in the specifics of lower limb biomechanics and sports injury.

As a chiropractor Rebecca ensures each patient is treated as an individual and endeavours to get the best out of their treatments by routinely incorporating a whole care package of activity, exercise and lifestyle.  She takes particular interest in the treatment of older patients who can sometimes be overlooked in other areas of the healthcare system.

As a sporty teenager she struggled with extreme knee pain for many years, so she understands how frustrating it is to have pain, and how much an injury can impact and affect your everyday life.  At one point the pain forced her to give up sports, and she would experience 10 out of 10 pain after a simple 30 minute walk.  After trying various other routes and consulting a knee specialist who told her there was “nothing wrong” she tried Chiropractic care at the recommendation of her mother (who’d had good results when seeing a Chiropractor for horse riding injuries).  The treatment resolved her pain and allowed her to get back to a high level of sports.  She says of this time;  “The Chiropractor used such simple techniques which took into account my body as a whole. I was so pleased that someone had taken the time to actually talk to me and sort out my problem that it inspired me to pursue a profession in Chiropractic.  My love of Biology and Anatomy along with a genuine care for my patients meant it was the career for me.”

Rebecca loves all sports but most notably was British Taekwondo Champion in 2008.  She also completed the London Marathon in 2005.  Currently she enjoys spending time with her friends and family walking the dog in the beautiful Peak District.  She still enjoys a variety of sporting activities, including horse riding, badminton, skiing and running.

She was born and brought up in Derbyshire and has attended both Edinburgh University (BSc Hons Physiology) and the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic (BSc Hons Chiropractic). She returned to Derbyshire to practice as a Chiropractor in 2008. She loves treating people of all ages, even babies, helping people feel and live better.

I had always been interested in more natural ways to improve health but then a spell of neck pain and stiffness led me to have Cranio-sacral Therapy. I then went on to look more at how my life was influencing my health and decided to study the therapies I had experienced. I love the gentle yet deep method of Cranio-sacral Therapy, and I find the traditional Chinese Medicine approach fascinating and very sophisticated. I also learnt yoga and became a yoga teacher which further enhanced both my own health and my understanding of the body.

In my spare time I enjoy time in nature, making preserves, cooking, yoga, and a good book by the fireside.

“I was a patient long before I joined the team so I understand how nervous patients can be on their first visit. I can relate to the uncertainty and apprehension some may feel about coming for treatment, but I can say that the treatment I received after knee surgery got me back up & about and playing cricket again.”

Neil spends his time split between Clay Cross and the East Coast and now enjoys playing the occasional round of golf, walks along the coast and spending time relaxing with family and friends. He’s an avid supporter of Sheffield Wednesday and Yorkshire and England Cricket Teams.
