About the Course Tutors

Rebecca ‘Bex’ Stevenson
Clinic Owner/Director & Tutor, Assessor, Internal Verifier

Bex is a respected Sports Massage Therapist, qualified to Level 4, with additional qualifications in Spinal Manipulation, Dry Needling, Deep Oscillation and Cupping.

She is known for being highly effective in her treatments, getting great results in an optimal timeframe. She has a lot of experience in coaching and teaching; she loves to encourage people and make them feel confident about what they can achieve.
She has a background in high-level Gymnastics herself, and coaching Gymnastics at a high-level for 15yrs.
She has also taught Sports & PE in senior schools.
Some of her other interests include Gym & Fitness, Gymnastics choreography & dancing.

Carol Stevenson
Tutor, Assessor, Internal Verifier

Carol has worked in the learning and education industry for the past 11 years beginning her career as a tutor/assessor working for national training providers delivering vocational qualifications and curriculum- based lessons in schools before moving into Internal Quality Assurance (IQA). Before this Carol trained as a community support nurse in the Health and Social Care sector and has worked in Retail for 25 years for a tele- communication company as a Store Manager and Recruitment Officer. Along side her day job Carol is currently a serving front line police officer for the local force in post of Sgt for the Special Constabulary for the last 25 years.

Carol is extremely passionate about training and motivated to inspire others to achieve.

Location

Located in the town of Clay Cross, North East Derbyshire, we are easy to get to for most of the Midlands. Only 10mins from J29 of the M1, within easy driving distance of Sheffield, Derby, & Nottingham. Just a 15min drive from Chesterfield Station, which has great rail connections. Courses may be held in different venues, but will be within Clay Cross or it’s neighbouring suburbs (please check course details for exact venue). Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy

Accredited by Active IQ, this Level 3 Sports Massage Course will enable you to achieve your goals by giving you the first step into starting a new career. This course comprises of a mixture of practical sessions, theory lecture sessions and home distance learning.
Pre – Requisites
There are no pre-requisites for this course but a basic understanding of Anatomy and Physiology is preferred. You must be aged 18 or over.

Course Content and Units

  • Unit 1 Anatomy and physiology for sports massage
  • Unit 2 Principles of health and fitness
  • Unit 3 Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction
  • Unit 4 Professional practice in sports massage
  • Unit 5 Sports massage treatments

Course Assessments

The Level 3 course is split into 5 unit questions that will be set as homework or prior learning on the following topics:

  • Unit 1 Anatomy and physiology for sports massage
  • Unit 2 Principles of health and fitness
  • Unit 3 Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction
  • Unit 4 Professional practice in sports massage
  • Unit 5 Sports massage treatments

1x assignment as part of Unit 4 Professional Practice on setting up a new Sports Massage business.

1x multiple choice A&P exam paper done at home as homework on set dates within the course. Part of the information needed for the A&P exam will be learned throughout the course and the rest by home study. The following topics will be covered in the exam:

  • The Nervous System
  • The Lymphatic System
  • The Digestive System
  • The Urinary System
  • The Respiratory System

Practical Exams will take place on the final day of the course.

  • Maintenance Exam: The learners will complete a practical exam that may take up to 1 hour, consisting of client consultation & assessment, maintenance massage treatment and evaluation of treatment.
  • Pre & Post Exam: The learners will complete a practical exam that may take up to 1 hour consisting, of client consultation & assessment, pre & post massage treatments and evaluation of treatment. These exams will normally be after one another.
What will I gain from the course?
  • Certificate: Full Accreditation Course with Active IQ.
  • You will be able to gain insurance with a range of different providers.
  • You will be able to gain employment as a Level 3 Sports Massage Therapist or be able to set up as a Self-Employed Therapist with your own business.

By undertaking any of our courses or training at TBHC & Training Ltd the learner must understand and agree to the following terms and conditions:

  1. Applications for all courses must be made by our official website.
  2. All deposits must be made in full at the time of booking and are NON-REFUNDBALE. This is to secure the learners place.
  3. Your place on the course will only be secured once the appropriate fee has been paid. This may be the stated deposit or the full course fee for short/CPD courses and courses starting in less than 28 days.
  4. All learners must confirm their identity through the required unique photo identification. Please see our Confirming the Identity of all Learners Policy.
  5. If a payment plan/instalment option is made, the learner understands that they are bound to adhere to the agreed payment schedule and all course fees must be paid in full no later than 28 days prior to the course. Failure to do so may result in being removed from the course and fill curse fees will be liable and no refunds will be given.
  6. When applying for any of our courses you are declaring that you are fit and well to undertake the course and practical elements of the course. If you are concerned about any health conditions or disability please consult a medical professional before enrolling onto any of our courses. If you require any special arrangements or considerations please consult us before making any bookings onto our courses.
  7. For courses that require pre-requisite qualifications, all applicants must send via email the proof/copies of relevant qualifications certificates on application. These must be emailed to tbhctrainingltd@outlook.com. If you are unsure if you meet the pre-requisite requirement’s please consult us before booking.
  8. All course materials will be delivered to the address provided prior to the course start date. If you are unavailable when the course materials are delivered or not collected from the local depot, an additional distribution fee may be charged. Charges for all course material delivered within the UK are included within the course price.
  9. We understand that occasionally, due to unforeseen circumstances, applicants may have to alter their arrangements. In these cases every effort will be made to accommodate the change although there may be delays in enrolling students onto alternative courses. A letter of cancellation must be received no later than 29 days before the start date of the original course. In such circumstances, any fees paid will be transferred to the alternative course. In the case of cancellations before 28 days that do not wish to be transferred onto another course, a refund of fees paid, less a 20% administration charge, will only be made if the cancellation is received no later than 29 days before the start of the course; this does not include the deposit, which forms a non-refundable element of your fees. No refunds will be given for changes or cancellations made with less than 28 days’ notice and full course fees will still be due including for those on instalment plans. Please see refund policy.
  10. It may be necessary from time to time to change/cancel course dates, content, venues and prices from those published. TBHC & Training Ltd will not be held liable for any costs/losses incurred as a result of any such changes and no refunds will be offered unless these changes are significant. In the event a course is cancelled you may be offered an alternative course and all fees will be transferred; if this is not convenient or no alternative is available a full refund will be issued, less an admin charge to cover our incurred costs including, but not limited to card payment processing fees, awarding body registration fees, physical materials issued & postage.
  11. TBHC & Training Ltd reserves the right to remove from any course at any time, students that fail to comply with its standard practices, procedures and Student Code of Conduct. TBHC & Training LTD also reserves the right to refuse enrolments, or suggest alternative arrangements if we believe it will not be in the best interest of the company, other participants or the individual concerned to attend the course.
  12. If your course includes access to buildings not managed by us, you are bound to adhere to the separate terms and conditions for those facilities.
  13. Re-assessment fees of £20 per theory paper and £50 per practical observation will be charged on any referred or missed assessment.
  14. If learners require further attempts at the theory paper exam or practical assessments and require further learning, this will be discussed and agreed by both parties. Further learning costs will be as follows:
    • Attending the course again on the next available course – 50% of course price.
    • Anatomy and Physiology revision session (up to 4hours) – £100.
    • Practical assessment support session (up to 4hours) – £100.
  15. All courses must be completed with 1 year of the course start date. Therefore, if a learner is transferred onto another course it must be within the 1 year period. Failure to complete the course within 1 year the learner will be removed from the programme with no refund given.
  16. Photos and videos maybe taken during the course to help you as learners’ revisit practical course content, also some photos and videos maybe used for social media purposes. By signing up to the curse you are giving permission to photos and videos being taken.
  17. It is your responsibility to update us immediately of changes to personal details. Any costs incurred due to out of date personal details will be passed onto you.
  18. Any complaints or appeals must go through TBHC & Training Ltd’s Appeals or Complaints Policy.
  19. These terms and conditions shall apply to any further courses undertaken with ourselves unless otherwise agreed.
  20. These terms and conditions may be subject to change without notice at our discretion.
REFUND POLICY

Notice of Cancellation (you must ensure we have received your notice to cancel):

  • 90 days or more – Full refund minus the non-refundable deposit.
  • 89-60 days – 50% refund minus the non-refundable deposit.
  • 59-29 days – 25% refund minus the non-refundable deposit.
  • 28 days or less – NO REFUND.
  • Deposits – NO REFUND, NON-REFUNDABLE.

Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy

Accredited by Active IQ, this Level 3 Sports Massage Course will enable you to achieve your goals by giving you the first step into starting a new career.
This course comprises of a mixture of practical sessions, theory lecture sessions and home distance learning.

Pre – Requisites

Learners must hold a Level 3 Sports Massage qualification and a good understanding of Anatomy and Physiology is preferred. You must be aged 18 or over.

Course Content and Units

  • Unit 1 Conducting subjective and objective assessment.
  • Unit 2 Provide sports massage techniques to prevent and manage injury.
  • Unit 3 Treatment modalities to support soft tissue repair.

Course Assessments

The Level 4 course is split into 3 unit questions that will be set as homework or prior learning on the following topics:

  • Unit 1 Conducting subjective and objective assessment.
  • Unit 2 Provide sports massage techniques to prevent and manage injury.
  • Unit 3 Treatment modalities to support soft tissue repair.

1 x assignment as part of Unit 2 Provide sports massage techniques to prevent and manage injury where you are asked to design an informational resource (e.g. leaflet, web page, article) to explain a range of soft tissue techniques which prevent and manage injury.

Practical Exams will take place on the final day of the course.

Unit 1 Conducting subjective and objective assessment.

  • Summative Observation: Palpation.
  • Summative Observation for client assessment & treatment planning for.
  • Ankle or knee.
  • Hip.
  • Spine.
  • Shoulder.
  • Elbow or wrist.

Unit 2 Provide sports massage techniques to prevent and manage injury.
Modular Summative Observation.

Critical Evaluations will be done by the learner after each observation. After each client treatment, the learner needs to complete the critical evaluation for each of the soft tissue techniques used. This must be completed with as much detail as possible and both positive and negative evaluation points must be discussed to achieve a pass overall.
